Recently me and Lane Hilgenhold have been collaborating on a project to create magnetic putty. We saw this stuff in a video online and thought it looked really cool so we decided to make some for ourselves. It is actually really simple to make. From our research we determined two ways that we would be able to create our magnetic putty. We could either buy putty and place iron shavings in it, or we could combine Elmer's glue, liquid starch, and the iron shavings to create our putty. This was cheaper option and the option we chose since all the supplies were already in the science lab. After a couple tries and tweaking of our formula we created a slimy putty substance that would follow our magnet around. Then we created our own time lapse video! Which I thought was really cool. Sadly we had technical difficulties uploading our own video, but you can click here to see a video of magnetic putty in action. In other news we have ended our experiments about dissolving iron nails in salsa and have decided that it is plausible to dissolve certain metals with salsa but it would take a very long time.

And I was really looking forward to seeing YOUR video! Sam, you need to help them with this since you have been able to do that! I was fortunate to see it in person, but I'm sure others would have loved to see what you guys were able to do.

I'm also wondering, though, why the video is how to make a ping pong popper....
