Hello! to all my blog followers. I believe it has been a couple weeks since my last blog. Lane and I most recent project was creating a hologram projector for your phone. We found this idea on Facebook and decided wanted to try it for ourselves. It was a relatively simple project all we had to do was cut 4 equal trapezoidal shapes out of some hard plastic. After experimenting with a couple different types of plastic, (some were to rigid, others to soft) we finally found one that was strong enough and easy to cut. Our final hologram projector worked and was quite impressive. Click here for a link to a video of one of these holograms. Keep in mind this isn’t the one we built but it creates the same effect. We put our hologram on display at a recent basketball game along with other projects for our fellow classmates. A lot of kids thought it was very cool and some even questioned its reality. All in all it was a pretty successful project that we created off a video on Facebook we both happened to see. To keep you updated for our next project we are going to be running tests on different types of water. Specifically comparing regular drinking water from a faucet or tap and water straight from the Ohio river. We may also use filtered water and some lake water as well, so we can see many different results. We are going to run tests such as testing the pH level and examining the water under a microscope. I still have to do research on what kind of testing can be done and how it can be done. For now here is a link to some information about whether or not it is safe to swim in the river. Some people say that it not because the water is filthy, however I have been swimming in the river water for most of my life and see nothing wrong with it, as far as swimming goes, but I would not purposely drink the water. So now you are all caught up to the world of Steam Science.

I also had questions about if the hologram would really work but after some trail and error we finally got it down. I also noticed that some videos worked better than others

Placement of the plastic was also important to having a perfect hologram. I wonder if you changed the size of the display, if you would have to change the size of the sides of the plastic?
