Next week, I will be conducting an experiment testing the effects of certain foods on sugar levels in the blood. I have chosen seven different foods, each of them high in some sort of nutrient, such as carbs, fats, protein, etc... My goal for this project is to figure out what causes blood sugar spikes and drops, because I've really never been able to figure out that cause over the past eleven years. Along the way, I have learned some really interesting facts about some of the foods that I will be testing. Like one cup of peanuts exceeds the daily value of fat. And that a normal carrot gives you 203% of the vitamin A, and a cup of orange juice can give you 345% of your vitamin C. That means if you take vitamin gummies, eat lots of citrus fruit, and drink orange juice, you could almost quintuple your vitamin C daily value. I wonder, along with other nutrients, how that can affect blood sugar because I no if I can figure it out, my diet may be switched around so I can maintain a healthy lifestyle.
After we caught the jellyfish last week and put them in the tank, I was personally surprised to see some of them still alive. Eight days after they were placed in the tank, the water was filled with caviar, baby jellyfish, and what was left of the dead. One of the interesting facts I learned from this experiment was that it is possible that they resort to cannibalism, if they are the only living organisms in a certain area. This is why I’m surprised that there were still a few jellyfish still alive, since it seemed like the caviar was too big to eat for most of the jellys. I considered that they may start eating each other, but luckily they didn’t. The ones that survived are troopers, and must have been the jellyfish that were big to start off with, because like I said earlier, the caviar seemed to be way too big for the other jellyfish. The jellyfish that did survive however did decrease in size by a significant amount, which is how I assumed that they were huge to begin with. And that is why I thought this was interesting, due to the condition of the tank.
