When you watch contact sports like football or basketball, you notice that a lot of the injuries are very similar. That is because most of the injuries are caused by a blow to the knee. All the time, you hear of star athletes tearing there anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). The reason for that is because the ligament is in the front part of the knee, which makes it the most vulnerable. The MCL, LCL, and PCL are other ligaments, but there positions make tears to those ligaments less common. You can also tear your meniscus, which is attached at the bottom part of the knee. Although tears are the most common, a patella fracture or dislocation occur mostly to football players. Same with a femur or tibia dislocation. The tibia is the shin bone, which in my opinion is the most painful bone you could possibly break.

Have you experienced a bone break and to the tibia? I know i do not like shin splints! Those can be quite painful. I wonder what the underlying cause of that is? I definitely have known several that have torn their ACL.

How much force does it cause to tear an ACL and what kind of motion causes it?

Which sports are more prone to have ligaments torn? Or does it just depend on how you turn your knee?
